Our carbon anodes are precision engineered in Switzerland and produced to exacting standards, cost-effectively in China. A flexible production base allows us to produce anodes that meet the requirements of the varying smelting technologies now in service around the world. In the last decade, Aminco has shipped more than 1.8 million metric tons of carbon anodes to customers in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia both on spot and long-term bases.

Satisfying the anode requirements of the aluminum industry is technically demanding. Precise attention to all production steps is required, including raw materials selection, engineering, manufacturing, process parameters, inspection, quality control, delivery, logistics and finance.

Aminco Anodes engineers and manufactures carbon anodes — large carbon blocks that act as electrical conductors — used in aluminum smelting. Calcined petroleum coke (cpc) and coal tar pitch are mixed, formed into molds and baked according to smelter specifications as to physical and chemical properties. In preparation for smelting pots, the carbon blocks are fixed to copper rods with molten cast iron. Approximately, 400–450kg of anodes are consumed to produce one ton of aluminum.

In 1998, Aminco partnered with R&D Carbon, Ltd. of Switzerland, an innovator in carbon technology for the aluminum industry, licensed its technology and benefits from its proprietary research to reduce aluminum production costs. R&D Carbon is responsible for ensuring the highest quality technical operations for Aminco Anodes and providing continuous production and quality control (including defining coke blends, recipe formulations, anode plant operating parameters).
